My Mom

You probably are wondering if I have a mother. I have the greatest mother in the world. Her name is Leah Fullmer Greenhalgh. She was born December 31, 1922. She loved celebrating her birthday nd we still celebrate it only in a different way. She died January 17, 2002 from an infection that she got from the hospital after Colon Cancer surgery. She fought a valiant fight right to the very end. I love her very much and I can't believe she is gone. Daddy is with her now and I am sure they are both very happy. I have very special memories of my mother. She always made every day special. We would have tea parties with my dolls and special cookies. She always made me big fluffy dresses for me for my birthday., and a special birthday cake. She was the best cook. Her bread was the best in the world. She made Chicken Pot Pie and Meat Pie that would melt in your mouth. She could make gravy out of anything, she could make it out of one piece of bacon, and it was the best. She made the best pies and cakes. She made everyones wedding cakes. She made my wedding cake and it was beautiful. She had this tan dress that made her look like Cinderella. She even had glass slippers. She was always so good to my grandma and grandpa. She had a lot of love and respect for both of them. We spent alot of time with my mom's family. Mom's house was always the gathering place. We had huge Thanksgiving Dinners with all the cousins and the best stuffing ( It was so good you could eat out of the fridge cold). We always got together for Easter and had a fun Easter Egg Hunt. Mom and grandma would give each of us a nickle for every egg we found. Labor Day was always fun because Mom's family always got together at the park. She was like a second mother to my Uncle Maynard. She loved him very much. He loved across the street from us most of my life , so he was like another brother to me. Mom was a fun grandma to my kids. She would always give them a special day when they could spend the whoke day with her. She would take them one at a time and take them to lunch, to the egg farm, or just take them to her house. She loved to play games with them. She loved Yatzee and Wahoo, and if you were really good she would play Generals with her. But you better not cheat or she wouldn't play with you for a while. Mom had always gone to church and took us to church. I think she taught Sunday School for about 15 years. She was the best Sunday School teacher ever. She was in the Young Women for a short time and was a visiting teacher for many years. She always wanted Daddy to go to church with us and he did for times during the years but nothing steady. After Dad had his heart attack in 82, Dad and Mom started going to church and started to get ready to go to the temple. I had the opportunity to go to the temple with them and be Mom's chaperon. It was such a beautiful experience. I was sealed to them that day January 4, 1983, and my mom was sealed to her parents, Dad and I got to stand for my grandparents so Mom could be sealed to them. Looking at our hands it was Grandma and Grandpa's hands that Mom was holding not ours. We could really feal them there Mom and Dad went on some fun trips together They went to Colorado, Washington D.C. , Texas, and Ohio, and South Carolina. They had a lot of fun most of their trips were to go see Terry and his family. One of the last trips that they took together was to South Carolina to see Dad's sister Aunt Mary. They had a great time. Moma and Dad went to the temple alot. They also went rock hunting and just to Junction and to the Blackhawk Camp. Mom was involved in the Daughters of the Pioneers for alot of years. She felt it was very important because her Grandpa Mattinson came across the plains with the Martin Handcart Company. Mom knew her Grandpa and his experiences were very special to her. She was the County Captain for a few years and did a great job at it . She was very proud of the postion. The last few years of Mom's life was a challenge. She had a lot of health problems both physical and emotinal. She didn't get out of the house much, but she was still the same loving Mother. I love my Mom very much and miss her very much. I found a tape the other day with my Mothers voice on it it was so good to hear her voice again. I had waited 61/2 years to her voice again.I miss you Mom and I can't wait to see you again. I know you and Daddy are together again and that you are doing the work of the Lord in Heaven. Ilove you until we meet again. Thank you for being my Moma and loving Me no matter what. This is only a small piece of my Mom's life and what see means to me. But how do you tell everything when there is so much to tell and your heart is so full. Ilove you Mom.
