What does Black Friday Mean?

I went shopping on Black Friday with Steffanie, Melanie ,Brian, and Wesley. We had alot of fun. We found lots of bargains. I am almost done with my shopping now. I don't understand why they call it black Friday when we all get great buys and have a blast.

This is a day when retailers expect their sales to be so strong that they will put the busines into the black (profit). Usually refers to the big sales events scheduled for the day after thanksgiving. :) Terry
